The PMO-MI® Maturity and Impact Benchmarking model is a principle-based, empirical, service-oriented framework designed to assess the maturity and impact of one or more PMOs. The model includes six tiers of assessment, each offering increasing depth of diagnostics and recommendations. Additionally, two of these tiers provide the design and development of your organization’s target operating model, helping you achieve maximum maturity and impact.

The AIPMO PMO assessment approach focuses on determining both the PMO’s maturity and its impact irrespective of the type of PMO, industry, or services provided. The model extends from single to multiple PMOs and uses scales designed for both service-oriented models and single and multi-PMOs.

To run effective maturity assessments, AIPMO has built its approach on the following pillars:

  • Pillar 1: The assessment is based on AIPMO’s integrated PMO management frameworks.
  • Pillar 2: The assessment is guided by AIPMO’s “Principle-based PMO Maturity Impact Model.”
  • Pillar 3: The assessment can be performed using self-assessment at Tier 1 with reduced questions and elements, then from Tier 2 to 5 with an increasing level of elements and comprehensiveness, which are conducted by AIPMO-approved assessors.
