Specialist Courses Across PPP & PMO's

AIPMO’s specialist courses across PMOs, projects, programs and portfolios have been developed from AIPMO’s ‘PMO and Services Capabilities’ initiative which outlines around 300 PMO services. These services have been identified from the thousands of PMOs who members have been either trained on AIPMO partner courses or from AIPMO’s ACEs observations or from research findings.

Referring to the figure above, PMO managers who are looking at providing additional services need to ensure they have the capability to deliver these services where part of the capability are their team members competencies. AIPMO’s specialist courses are modelled around the PMO Services catalogue therefore the PMO and project management courses reflect the competencies needed to deliver any particular service

Referring to the figure above, a PMO can offer any number of PMO services into the hundreds therefore AIPMO offers the PMO specialist accreditation with five specialist levels – IPMO- S1 to IPMO-S5 where S5 is the highest level. For every day that a delegate attends a specialist course one point is accredited. The majority of specialist courses are one day however some may be upto five days. The way this works is that APMO partners with AIPMO will record which specialist courses are attended and when the threshold is met the attendees will be invited to take an on-line exam. To achieve IPMO-S1 five points must be collected. IPMO-S2 requires 10 points etc., The PMO specialist certifications will not only help close any competency gaps but also give a recognition that the PMO professionals who have achieved a specialist level have been investing in their training.

How the Specialist Certification Level works

Attend any 5 Specialist (1 to 2 days per course) Courses and attain the S1 certification level

Specialist Level 2

Attend any 15 Specialist (S1 + 10 courses) Courses and attain the S2 certification level

Specialist Level 3

Specialist Level 4
